Battlefront: Hero Blast mode teased? Plus Skirmish, Conquest talk

While not currently on the project, Battlefront’s former lead designer Dennis Brannvall still does his best to discuss the game.

Most recently, Branvall perhaps hinted at the mysterious Hero Blast mode:

He doesn’t directly mention the officially-not-announced mode, but Hero Blast certainly seems to be referenced above. This is especially interesting because producer Paul Keslin was rather coy about the mode during the Rogue One: Scarif reveal stream. Keslin said then: “There’s no official statement on Hero Blast, other than it’s a thing that we’ve been playing around with.”

Hero Blast has only been uncovered via data mining by Uninspired Zebra. Various clues revealed by the data miner include the fact that it supposedly will feature six-versus-six action and be available on all normal Blast maps.

Branvall also recently touched on Conquest, a prominent mode from the original two Battlefronts and a staple in the Battlefield series:

Brannvall’s response here possibly implies that Conquest won’t directly make its way into Battlefront 2. However, the game could perhaps borrow ideas from the mode, such as non-linear gameplay and more freedom with vehicles.

Finally, Brannvall also noted that he would “love to see” all DLC maps included in a single playlist and available offline in Skirmish (picture of original tweet). Both these options would be great to see; hopefully his response indicates that the team is at least looking into adding these options in the future.

One last tidbit is weapons designer Christian Johannesen hinting that the Sonic Imploder will probably see a buff:

This would be most welcome—especially because the grenade barely does any damage even when landing near opponents.

As a heads up, I have one post scheduled for later this morning; however, I’ll probably try staying offline over Christmas weekend in order to spend more time with family.
