Take an inside look at Warring Galaxy, an episodic Battlefront fan-project (Updated)

Editor’s note: This post is written by Sage, who is working on the project. The creators reached out to me about doing a guest post on the blog and, knowing their previous work, I was more than happy to oblige.

YouTube channels TyeDyeSheepFilms and Cinematic Captures are creating the first multi-episode and narrative-driven Battlefront YouTube series.

For this worldwide project, Sage (of TyeDyeSheepFilms and the Battlefront Podcast) is writing the screenplay, as well as doing the narration with Sam, co-host of the Battlefront Podcast. The amazing Cinematic Captures is filming and co-directing, and Fanboy Features is doing the music.

What is this series?

This series is the Battlefront campaign we never had. A collaboration between two YouTube channels, the series tells two sides of the same story: the Rebel Alliance and the Empire.

Over the course of 10 episodes—five for each side—we’ll tell the story of a grizzled Rebel Officer and a hardened Commanding Imperial Trooper as they battle across the Battlefront galaxy.

How do we watch it?

Each YouTube channel will host a side; TyeDyeSheepFilms will feature the Rebel series and Cinematic Captures will host the Imperial series. Both sides will release at the same time so you can choose whose side you want to see first. Subscribe to each of our channels to stay up-to-date on the series:

When will it release?

We don’t have a release date yet. In the months to come we’ll be revealing more details in posts like this. While no release date is set just yet, a trailer will be coming out Midnight GMT, November 18 (7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT, November 17). You’ll be able to watch it embedded in this post or on either of our YouTube channels once it’s out. We hope you enjoy it! (Edit: Trailer is now live!)

What planets?

Throughout the series our characters will be visiting all of the planets in Battlefront for some very interesting missions. That’s all I can say about the series now—look forward to the series and more details coming in the future!

I wouldn’t call it the “first narrative driven SWBF Cinematic series” when people have already been doing this for some time; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7i6L4rnazUw. Nonetheless, hope it works out well! Looking forward to it :).

Thanks! It is the first narrative SERIES, with a continuing story over multiple episodes. All of the cinematics I’ve seen are single story videos. I haven’t seen one that continues over multiple videos, but I hope more people will make some!

    • Hi, sorry for the confusion, the video you linked is a ‘Short Film’ a stand alone cinematic. The project we are working on as stated above is a ‘Episodic narrative-driven Battlefront YouTube series’ this means that it is not a stand alone cinematic, all episodes will link to each other. Think of it like a TV Series.
      Hope this helps
