EA’s Gamescom event planned for August 21

In a posting today, EA announced that their Gamescom show will take place on Monday, August 21 at 6:30 p.m. CDT / 12:30 p.m. ET / 9:30 a.m. PT. The event promises a look at Battlefront II and will be livestreamed via EA.com.

Additionally, EA will host nearly 400 gameplay stations at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany from August 22 to 26. Among the games playable will be Battlefront II.

EA has previously promised a better look at Battlefront II’s space battles at Gamescom, so hopefully we get a space battles trailer and perhaps even full-out gameplay of the Starfighter Assault mode.

Tested made Janina Gavankar an Inferno Squad Helmet

YouTube channel Tested posted a video about the making of the Inferno Squad helmet that was given to Janina Gavankar at D23 last week. Check out the video with Norman Chan and Frank Ippolito below:

A behind-the-scenes story of how Gavankar became Iden Versio

Battlefront II co-writer Mitch Dyer penned an article about how Gavankar earned the role of the game’s campaign protagonist, Iden Versio. While the article doesn’t really shed much new light on the game, it still provides an interesting look at how Gavankar is approaching the character.

“Iden’s identity and self-worth comes from being a good soldier, even within her own family,” she said. “The level at which she executes and follows orders is her qualifier for self-worth and love in her family.”

Here’s a couple of cool snippets from D23

There were a couple of bits from the gaming panel at D23 I missed in my Saturday summary.

To start, we got to see John Boyega play the space part of Battlefront II’s Fondor mission (H/T AlexPixels on Reddit for the clip):

Next, we also got to hear Iden’s theme when Gavanakar walked on stage:

One last thing: A look at Kylo Ren’s TIE Fighter

The latest episode of The Star Wars Show included an exclusive look at Kylo Ren’s TIE Fighter from The Last Jedi. As it’s likely the “First Order ship” that’s teased in the pre-order options for Battlefront II, I figured it was worth sharing. Named the “TIE Silencer” (or fully, “Sienar Jaemus TIE/VN Space Superiority Fighter”), here’s a digital rendering of the ship:

The Star Wars Show also teased the arrival of three new ewoks in the mobile game, Galaxy of Heroes. The ewok event will begin July 20 and run through July 28.
