Check out these BattlefrontUpdates interviews with developers!

U-Wing preparing to go through the Shield Gate.

Elliot from BattlefrontUpdates recently had the opportunity to sit down and chat with a couple of developers on Battlefront.

First up was the hero designer Guillaume Mroz.

Mroz discussed several topics, including Jyn Ero and Director Krennic, vanilla hero traits, and some other changes coming to the game.

Here are several key changes Mroz mentioned:

  • Extraction will now allow for free hero selection. This means that players can choose which hero they want to play as in Extraction; previously, heroes were automatically selected. Heroes from outside the Outer Rim expansion (such as Jyn or Dengar) will also be available if you own them.
  • Darth Vader’s new “multitasking” ability allows him to lightsaber throw, attack, and block while force choking.
  • Luke’s health has been increased.
  • Chewbacca’s health has been increased, he’s faster and his main bowcaster bolt has been buffed.
  • Han Solo’s Shoulder Charge has been buffed and it now has the same hitbox as Dengar’s Hurricane Strike.

He also went more in-depth with the trait’s for vanilla heroes; however, I’ll probably do a full breakdown on those tomorrow.

That’s just a snippet of what Mroz covered, so I recommend listening to the whole conversation:

Elliot also talked with Christian Johannesen, the weapons designer on Battlefront.

Johannesen covered the new blasters and the Sonic Imploder, as well as various changes coming to Battlefront, including the trait system rework. Mroz also chimed in a bit to explain how the new armor system works.

Couple of key changes mentioned by Johannesen:

  • The 10-percent health bonus given to heroes via Bacta Bomb’s or Krennic’s Wrath of the Empire, cannot exceed 110 health for the heroes (i.e. you can’t spam Bacta Bombs so that a hero can have something like 150 health).
  • Droids/turrets will have a longer lock-on time beyond 25 meters (from one second to two).
  • Activating and then deactivating the Stinger Pistol without firing it will not result in a lost charge. It’s base damage has also been raised slightly.

Johannesen previously mentioned the trait system rework a few days ago, but I might go a bit more in-depth in the days ahead. I’ll also probably do a more in-depth look at the new armor system as well, once I get a better hang of out it works.

This interview also contains a lot more information (and Johannesen really provides some interesting insight into the new items), so it’s certainly worth a listen:
