New skin released in Battlefront; no official word yet (Updated)

Cybernetic Female in Battlefront.

The Cybernetic Female is now out in Battlefront.

The head, which features a cyborg construct similar to that worn by Lobot in Empire Strikes Back, first became available earlier today. This cyborg construct actually adds some dynamic features into the customization as lights flash on the device.

At the time of writing, EA/DICE has yet to comment on whether or not the head entered the game purposefully. However, considering that it’s Halloween, I reckon the head is meant to be a holiday reward. This also comes after this weekend’s Heroes Halloween.

As far as I can tell, you do not need to purchase or be a certain level to unlock the Cybernetic Female. Just equip the head and you’re good to go. Similar to the other heads in the new customization system, it can be combined with the with any of the current Rebel body customizations.

If you are looking for gameplay of the head and can’t get on Battlefront just yet, Elliot from BattlefrontUpdates recently uploaded a video:

The Cybernetic Female first made appearances in videos during the leadup to Bespin back in June. Data miner Uninspired Zebra later found the skin in game files.

For those wondering how the cyborg construct works in Star Wars lore, Lobot donned the technology in order to communicate with Cloud City’s central network. Tseebo, a Rodian, wore a similar implant that contained important Imperial information during Season 1 of Rebels.

It’s definitely a strange choice for EA/DICE to not announce fresh content before it drops. I remember a similar thing happening back when the Berserker trait came out and it caused confusion within the community. However, I’m all for new content, and props to DICE for continuing to release free items!

Update 3:18 p.m. PT: EA Star Wars just tweeted out that the customization is indeed for Halloween (along with what might be considered the “key art” for the head):
