Game Critics Awards dubs Battlefront II as the “Best Online Multiplayer” game of E3 2017

Naboo N-1 Star Fighter vs a Vulture Droid.

The Assault on Theed led Battlefront II to victory in this year’s Game Critics Awards.

The GCA, which has been around since 2002 and is judged by 38 publications, presented EA’s Battlefront II with the “Best Online Multiplayer” game award of E3 2017.

The Star Wars shooter beat out Call of Duty: WWII, Destiny 2, Sea of Thieves and Skull & Bones to take home the title.

Battlefront II was also nominated for the “Best Action Game” honor, but lost out to MachineGames’ Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. Super Mario Odyssey was the star of the GCA this year; Nintendo’s upcoming platformer racked up three awards, including “Best of Show”.

Games must be playable to judges for at least five minutes during E3 in order be considered for the GCA. During EA PLAY—EA’s pre-E3 event—Battlefront II allowed attendees and press to play Assault on Theed, a 40-player multiplayer mode set in the capital city of Naboo. The three-stage mode was intense and rather fun; you can read my thoughts in this review.

Get set for Battlefront II’s arrival this November 17 on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC by following SWGO on Facebook or Twitter.
