Battlefront II’s gameplay livestream to feature four heroes; “Special characters”

A new page on the official Battlefront II website hints that June 10th’s gameplay reveal livestream from EA PLAY will feature four heroes and “Special characters”.

The new information comes via a page dedicated to Saturday’s livestream, which will take place at 12:30 p.m. PT / 3:30 p.m. ET. The specific bit with new info reads:

Separatist battle droids and clone troopers battle in the streets, with all four of Star Wars Battlefront II’s new classes on display, alongside four legendary heroes, prequel-era vehicles, and exciting new Special characters.

We already know that Darth Maul and Rey will be two of the heroes, so I’ll be curious to find out who’ll complete the quartet. Obi-Wan Kenobi and Jango Fett have been teased (at least in ship form) via the concept art below, so it’d be neat to see both of them lead their respective armies during the Assault on Theed. Yoda, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Kylo Ren have been confirmed as heroes for Battlefront II, so perhaps we’ll see some of those folks come June 10.

The other interesting tidbit found in the new text is that the upcoming gameplay will also include “new Special characters”. Personally, this sounds like it may be extra characters that bridge the gap between the four infantry classes and hero characters. Speculating further here, perhaps the Clone Jumptroopers and B2 Super Battle Droids mentioned in Thursday’s blog post are these “Special characters”?

The gameplay livestream also promises to showcase the 20-versus-20 Assault on Theed, where the Separatists are bearing down upon Naboo’s capital city in a Multi-Troop Transport. The clone troopers of the Republic will have to stop the massive transport before it reaches the palace doors. Other vehicles featured in the mode include N-1 Starfighters, Vulture Droids, AT-RTs and AATs.

Edit: One bit I missed initially is that the new page refers to the mode as “Galactic Assault”. This is likely the mode’s name.

EA hasn’t revealed how you can watch this livestream just yet. However, I’m guessing that at the very least you’ll be able to catch it through the EA PLAY website or EA’s Twitch channel.

EA PLAY kicks off June 10 at the Hollywood Palladium and will run through June 12. If you’re able to make it to the Los Angeles area then, tickets to EA PLAY can be picked up for free (although I believe the only available tickets left are for Monday). I hope to see a few of you there as EA has invited me down for the event!

Who do you think the other two heroes will be? Chime in via the comments below, or ping SWGO on Facebook or Twitter.

Battlefront II arrives November 17 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Check back often with SWGO for all the latest Battlefront II news.

N-1 Starfighters, Vulture Droids that’s so cool. I am looking forward to see them. Especially, because they weren’t in old Battlefront.
