Vanity Fair releases new Star Wars covers: Could there be Battlefront II outfit clues?

–WARNING: This article may contain spoilers for The Last Jedi–

Magazine Vanity Fair recently revealed the Star Wars: The Last Jedi covers for their Summer issue.

There are four covers in total and they each reveal potential clues about special outfits we might see in EA’s Battlefront II. While we do already know what some of Kylo Ren and Rey’s The Last Jedi skins look like, note that it’s unconfirmed if these other outfits will be in the game. Additionally—out of the characters below—only Kylo, Rey and Luke Skywalker are confirmed for the game. As such, I am merely speculating on the clues the covers may provide.

You can view the original covers—along with a quick article—over at Vanity Fair’s website. The magazine promises to reveal more details in the coming days.

To start, here’s Luke and Rey:

Nothing is really new with Luke and Rey here. Both are wearing similar outfits to what they had on at the end of The Force Awakens and the recent The Last Jedi teaser trailer. However, you do get a clearer shot of Luke’s brown leather glove; in The Force Awakens, he went gloveless on his robotic hand.

Next up is the leading First Order trio of Captain Phasma, Kylo Ren and General Hux:

This one is a bit more interesting. The most revealing clue I find here is that Phasma is carrying a staff of some sort. Perhaps she’ll have a customizable melee ability alongside ranged weapons. Note that while we do see Gwendoline Christie playing Phasma without a helmet in this cover, I doubt the character will be able to remove her helmet in Battlefront II.

We also get a new view of Kylo in his The Last Jedi attire, which has been confirmed as a pre-order bonus for the game. General Hux doesn’t look much different from The Force Awakens; his coat and uniform seem to be line up with the last movie.

Transitioning over to the Resistance, we get a better look of Poe Dameron, Finn and the newcomer Rose:

Here, Poe looks eerily similar to Han Solo’s digs in The Empire Strikes Back. I could definitely see Poe’s black leather jacket being a cosmetic option in Battlefront II.

We also see Finn still wearing Poe’s jacket from The Force Awakens. However, he’s donned a tan shirt underneath the jacket, his pants are blue and he also has brown leather boots. In The Force Awakens, Finn wore a black undershirt and pants, plus grey-white shoes.

It’s also worth noting that you can just barely make out the pistols holstered by by Poe and Finn. Perhaps these’ll be weapon options in Battlefront II?

On the far right, we see Rose, a mechanic and a newcomer to the Star Wars saga. At Star Wars Celebration, we got a quick glance at the character, but this is a bit higher-quality image. It’s unknown what exactly her role might be in the movie, so I’ll be very curious to see what she’s like in Battlefront II. That’s if she makes it in the game, of course!

Finally, the late Carrie Fisher gets honored with a solo cover in the outfit General Leia Organa will wear in The Last Jedi:

I’ll be curious if Leia’s look in The Last Jedi makes it into Battlefront II somehow. As Leia appears to be more of a commander than a field soldier in the Sequel Trilogy, we may only get her Original Trilogy otufits for Battlefront II. However, I certainly wouldn’t say no to the above outfit. It definitely looks classy!
