Rogue Squadron fan-remake shows off new mission in latest video

The Nonnah level in Rogue Squadron Unreal.

Rogue Squadron Unreal, a fan-remake of the 1998 Star Wars classic game, recently got its “The Search for the Nonnah” level shown off.

As with earlier videos of the remake, this is the best I’ve ever seen Rogue Squadron look. Rogue Squadron Unreal is a fan project meant to rebuild Rogue Squadron in Unreal Engine 4. To follow along with its progress or help out on the project, check out its subreddit.

The Nonnah level is the third level we’ve witnessed of the project so far; previously, footage of the opening Tatooine mission and the game’s Barkhesh level were shared.

To note about the current state of the level, the Nonnah ship is a stand-in and the development team plans to release a higher-resolution version once this project does release. Per the project’s lead Thanaclara on Reddit:

As for the Nonnah, originally we were using a model of the Tantive IV that we downloaded online for free as a stand-in since we couldn’t find any models of the Nonnah online at all let alone for free. We contemplated releasing a video of the level with the Tantive IV as the stand-in and a disclaimer saying the Nonnah would be in the final released game but we came to the conclusion that it would be cooler to have the correct ship. […] It suffices for now but I wouldn’t in a million years release it as is so because of that I need to stress the fact that we are in desperate need of texture artists and people who have experience with unwrapping and UV mapping 3D models.

You can check out the video below. As always with these projects, this is early development footage, so bugs are expected and things may change/improve should the game launch.
