Mass Effect: Andromeda includes a Star Wars Easter egg

While BioWare doesn’t have any new Star Wars games coming out anytime soon, they still managed to include a nod to the franchise in their upcoming Mass Effect: Andromeda game.

The Star Wars Easter egg was revealed yesterday as part of the PAX East 2017 Twitch stream. In the scene, one the game’s protagonists, Scott Ryder, echoes Han Solo:

Ryder’s line references a similar quote from Han on the Death Star in A New Hope. You can check out that scene below:

Mass Effect: Andromeda is due out in North America on March 21 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Interestingly, the sci-fi role-playing game is published by EA, which also owns the publishing rights to Star Wars video games until 2023.

BioWare, which produced Andromeda, is the studio behind Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, and the currently-active MMO, Star Wars: The Old Republic. After Andromeda, the studio has an action adventure title under a new IP slated for 2018—a bit of a departure from their RPG roots.

Besides SWTOR, the studio has not been announced in future plans for EA’s Star Wars stable of games; however, BioWare’s general manager Aaryn Flynn indicated last November that that studio would be open to expanding their role in the Star Wars universe.
