Star Wars: Redemption is a gorgeous fan-made video game concept

Concept art for Star Wars: Redemption, a fan project.

Based on The Clone Wars TV show, Star Wars: Redemption gives a fresh take on the Star Wars universe.

Redemption, which is designed by CG artist Etienne Beschet, is primarily in the concept phase right now. It revolves around a female Jedi named Mevenn who wears clone armor. Beschet indicated that he hopes to eventually develop it into a video game.

“At the beginning it was just about a Jedi in a clone outfit and the more I spend time on it, the more thing[s] are added to this base concept,” he wrote. “As it’s a fan project [and] I don’t spend the time I’d want on it, the evolution will be chaotic in terms of regularity.”

Beschet also noted that the project is set sometime between Episode II and V on the timeline; however, he’s “not done yet with the story.”

Unfortunately, considering that this project is being developed by a single person and the copyright hurdles posed by the Star Wars IP, this game might never see the light of day.

Still, it Beschet’s work presents an interesting take on the Star Wars universe. The character models crafted so far look terrific. The worlds are also definitely places I’d love to explore. It’s also admirable to see Beschet undertake this project.

While there were several games centered around The Clone Wars TV show, it would be awesome to see the TV shows get more love on the gaming side of things. A game focused on Rebels would be rather intriguing.
