Free Radical’s cancelled Battlefront 3 was set to feature space combat in the campaign’s opening mission.

This information comes via FuZaH, who recently shared some footage of the cancelled game on YouTube. FuZaH has previously leaked video from the game; they most recently shared part one of the game’s opening mission. Both videos feature alpha gameplay, which means there are numerous bugs and incomplete portions alongside low frame rates.

Besides showcasing combat with a Jedi Starfighter, in-atmosphere combat with a Republic LAAT gunship is also featured.

While Battlefront 3 never released, ideas from the game were eventually ported over to Battlefront: Elite Squadron, a PSP and Nintendo DS title from 2009. Still, it’s a shame we had to wait roughly 10 years for a new full Battlefront game to release after Battlefront II came out in 2004.
