Here’s a demo video for a cancelled Star Wars flight sim

X-Wing versus a TIE Fighter.

Flying TIE Fighters and X-Wings is a dream for many Star Wars fans.

A prototype for the Wii by Red Fly Studio may have delivered just that. Unfortunately the game—a sequel to the 1997 game X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter—never made it out of the prototype stage.

The gameplay video showcases a TIE Fighter in a battle above a seemingly volcanic planet. However, Red Fly Studio failed to include many more details.

This video was part of a recent prototype dump shared by Red Fly Studio and posted on their website. Other games include a Wii port of the Batman game Arkham Asylum, Dig Dug and Devil May Care.

Red Fly Studio is also known for working on a Darth Maul video game before the project was eventually shuttered. Interestingly, it appears that the studio is still working on a prototype for the game, as the website reads:

We have started to port our prototype over to Unreal 4.  All new environment assets, new character models, and an update to the combat system are all in the works!

However, note that it would still need to be approved by Disney/Lucasfilm/EA in order to see the light of day.

While we may never get Darth Maul or X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter II games, you can watch a the flight simulator prototype video below:
