Battlefront’s Rogue One DLC heroes in-depth; Jyn & Krennic’s weapons, abilities & more!

Jyn with her A180.

At the time of writing, Jyn Erso and Director Orson Krennic are set to join Battlefront in just a few short days.

With that in mind, here’s a look at how these new heroes will function:

Jyn Erso

Jyn's entrance pose in Battlefront.

A brawler, Jyn boasts an impressive melee ability that makes her effective when in the thick of battle.

Weapon: The A180 Blaster Pistol. A configurable blaster, Jyn can use this weapon in a range of situations. Jyn doesn’t have access to its sniper or ion launcher abilities that come with the infantry version, but she doesn’t need to worry about cooldowns when switching modes.

Abilities:

  • Rifle Configuration: Jyn is able to toggle between the pistol and blaster rifle mode of the A180 at will.  The pistol and blaster rifle do not share overheat, so Jyn can swap between configurations without penalty if she overheats on one.
  • Sonic Imploder: Jyn has access to a buffed version of the normal Sonic Imploder, which blinds and damages nearby enemies while also debuffing their armor. Jyn’s version has a 20-second cooldown.
  • Truncheon Surge: Jyn can utilize her truncheon (or baton) to kill enemies in close quarters. Initially only three surges are available, but leveling up her trait can increase the maximum to nine. Cooldown is almost instantaneous; however, if there are zero surges left, Jyn will need to level up her trait.

Trait — Truncheon Charge: Gain extra charge of Truncheon Surge with kills or hero damage, Truncheon Surge increases the trait but does not give any charges itself.

Director Orson Krennic

Krennic's entrance pose in Battlefront.

A support-based hero, Krennic can be key in helping the Empire lock down various objectives.

Weapon: The DT-29 Heavy Blaster Pistol. This is a revolver-style pistol that does not overheat. Instead, it features an energy pack that must be reloaded every six shots. It’s immune to the Distruption Charge Card.

Abilities:

  • Armor Breaker: This is a toggleable ability that damages opponent’s armor upon impact. It one-shots normal infantry. As it is toggleable, Krennic may use it as long as he wants; however, it requires reloading after every shot.
  • C2-B5 Astromech: This droid comes equipped with a mini-squad shield, scan ping and it also shoots out dioxis gas titled “Dioxis Defense”. Krennic may place a new droid after a 45-second cooldown; however, doing so will remove the previously-placed droid.
  • Wrath of the Empire: Krennic’s third ability places an icon on the ground. Teammate infantry that are standing nearby right when Krennic deploys the icon gain a temporary 200-percent health increase that then slowly decreases. Nearby teammate heroes gain a 10-percent health bonus. Krennic himself also gains this bonus. This ability has a 45-second cooldown.

Trait — Motivator: Gain armor for yourself and teammates depending how many surround you. This means that Krennic’s trait is not dependant on the number of enemies he kills, rather, it is solely dependant on the number of nearby teammates.

Honor guards — Death Troopers: Krennic’s presence on the Battlefront also allows a pair of death troopers to spawn on the battlefront. These behemoths will tower over standard infantry at six-foot-five-inches tall. They come equipped with the DLT-19 heavy blaster, a Smart Rocket, a Thermal Imploader and the Cooling Cell.
