Star Wars: Commander receives more Rogue One content, trailer!

The Imperial KX-series Security Droid in the latest Star Wars: Commander trailer.

With just two weeks to go until the Rogue One movie, mobile strategy game Star Wars: Commander just received some new tie-in content.

The update notes, which can be seen on the store listings for both iTunes and Google Play, reveal what’s new:

  • New Mercenaries:
    • Security Droid – This Imperial KX-series Security Droid utilizes a sonic grenade to weaken enemy defenses for a short period of time, increasing the effectiveness of attacking forces.
    • Drabatan Saboteur – With a full-throated battle cry, these amphibious warriors use sonic grenades to weaken enemy defenses, leaving them vulnerable to attack from fellow Rebel Alliance troops.
  • New Starfighters:
    • TIE Striker – A streamlined version of the classic TIE fighter, the Empire deploys these ships to devastating effect against enemy targets, particularly vehicle units.
    • Fang Fighter – The Rebel Alliance utilizes these ships of Mandalorian origin for powerful anti-vehicle air support.

The iTunes listing also notes that more equipment will roll out “with the Rogue One film release!”

I certainly find the reference to the Security Droid’s “sonic grenade” interesting. Coupled together with the fact that Battlefront is receiving a Sonic Imploder, perhaps a similar weapon will feature in the new movie?

Star Wars: Commander previously received Rogue One content back in September in the form of AT-ACTs, shoretroopers, Rebel Commandos and the Gigoran Fighter.

A cinematic trailer for the more recent content was also released just today on YouTube. I’m not going to lie, it looks pretty awesome (even if it’s not actual gameplay):
