Sometimes R2-D2 likes flying above the Death Star, too!

Battlefront has its share of glitches and bugs, but this one may be the funniest one yet.

Similar to the relatively well-known Death Star surface-spawning glitch, this one takes place on the Death Star Surface map. However, instead of heroes or infantry, it involves R2-D2.

User John Hamati posted a video on YouTube featuring a flying R2-D2 and shared it to Reddit. While playing as Luke Skywalker’s Red Five during the third phase of Battle Station, Hamati noticed R2-D2 zoom past:

First off, Hamati deserves commendation for being able to spot R2 in real-time and then saving the footage. The turn is so quick that it’s difficult to spot the astromech at first glance.

I’m not really sure what might’ve caused this glitch. Unlike the Death Star-spawning glitch, this R2 doesn’t seem user-controlled. Based on the fact that Red Five is being used and how R2 seems to move with the ship, I can only fathom that this has something to do with Luke’s X-Wing. But even that doesn’t make much sense. Until it pops up more often, it looks like this glitch will remain a mystery.

While lead designer Dennis Brannvall noted a fix is coming for heroes spawning atop the Death Star, DICE might take longer to this one get sorted out.

This is certainly a glitch I haven’t seen before. Have you experienced it? Share down in the comments below, or give us a shout on Twitter or Facebook.
