A new blog post just went up on the official EA Star Wars website detailing new features of Battlefront’s upcoming expansion.

You can read the full post here.

Among the highlights, it revealed the names for the Death Star’s five maps:

  • Imperial Blockade
  • Defense Sector
  • Power Sector
  • Command Sector
  • Death Star Surface

It also confirmed that we’ll get four free outfits: X-Wing Pilot and Rebel Officer (for Rebellion) and Death Star Trooper and Imperial Officer (for the Empire). To account for these new unlocks, there will be a level cap increase from 70 to 90.

It also mentioned the four new vehicle power-ups shown off in today’s livestream. These four new ships are: B-Wing, Y-Wing, TIE Bomber and TIE Defender. When you fly through one of the pick-ups, two AI ships will spawn alongside your ship and they’ll assist you in destroying enemies fighters. Should you die before both your AI allies die, they’ll fly off from the battle.

The post also went into depth about the new weapons, Star Cards and heroes; however, most of those details were already released before.

Hero designer Guillaume Mroz further clarified via Twitter how the hero pick-ups work inside the Death Star during phase two of Battle Station:

Additionally, Dennis confirmed during the livestream that there will only be bug fixes for Skirmish in this next patch. However, they are collecting data for the mode in the future.

“As soon as we have more information regarding the future of it, we’ll update you,” said Battlefront’s lead designer, Dennis Brannvall.

All in all, I think it’s positive for Skirmish. I didn’t really expect them to include more modes with this update. However, hopefully the mode will be bolstered before the Rogue One DLC.
