Some details on Battlefront’s Death Star DLC weapons surface!

Explosion on Sullust.

It’s been a flurry of developer communication regarding Battlefront today.

After Guilaume Mroz and Dennis Brannvall were both active answering questions, the weapons designer, Christian Johannesen chimed in a few responses on Twitter:

  • He first noted that he’s been busy prepping for the upcoming DLC and this is why he hasn’t been more responsive to questions. This is totally understandable as the Death Star seems like a pretty beefy expansion.
  • Johannesen also teased that a trailer for the Death Star is coming soon and he called it “awesome.” Fingers crossed for this week!
  • The Death Star will be receiving two weapons: one is fully-automatic, while the other is semi-automatic. I’m excited to see what the full-auto plays like; we haven’t seen a new one since the game launched. He also added that the expansion will bring more than just pistols.
  • He did, however, play coy when asked if he knows many new Star Cards will arrive alongside the Death Star by stating: “I do know. Keep your eyes peeled for our upcoming blogs on more details there. :)” For reference, Outer Rim and Bespin both launched with three cards apiece. Of course, that doesn’t mean DICE won’t do something different here.
  • No grenades will make it into the Death Star DLC, but Johannesen promises that “the new equipment will provide plenty of explosions.”
  • The Stinger Pistol will be getting improvements in a future update, but Johannesen didn’t have time to implement them in time for the Death Star.
  • It doesn’t look like new power-ups will arrive in Battlefront (at least with the Death Star) as Johannesen noted that they’ve “focused on things you can equip on the soldier.”

That’s all we have so far from Johanesen. I’ll be sure to update this page further should we get more information.

And just a reminder, I’ll be busy the rest of this week, so I might not be a fast as I normally like when getting up posts. However, I’ll try to do nightly summaries.
