Battlefront: Update on Chewie & Bossk, Palpatine’s blocking ability

Ahead of Chewbacca and Bossk’s arrival to Battlefront next month, we got some minor information today regarding their progress.

This bout of news comes from the game’s hero designer Guillaume Mroz, who stated on Twitter that he has “been head deep in finishing Chewie and Bossk.”

He then added (if my one year of college French and Google Translate serve me well) that the two new heroes are currently in their Alpha stage. Mroz will soon be able to start balancing the characters after he makes a couple of minor tweaks. Hearing that Chewbacca and Bossk are progressing well is definitely a good sign!

EA Star Wars will also be at gamescom next week. Unfortunately, it appears that Chewie and Bossk won’t be present, according to Mroz. Regardless, it will be interesting to see what else EA has cooked up for their Star Wars games.

Emperor Palpatine.

As for the other heroes, Mroz had previously mentioned that Palpatine would be getting a new blocking mechanic. Alas, there seems to be a slight hiccup with this feature; Mroz stated today that he hasn’t “been able to clear it with Lucas[film] yet.”  This is likely due to Lucasfilm’s desire to see the mechanic fit their envisioned canon.

Mroz also commentated that he plans fixing an issue in Heroes vs Villains in which damaging other heroes as Luke or Darth Vader doesn’t score points.

Finally, Mroz replied to praise about Skirmish, saying, “I’m happy you love Skirmish… actually proud that I was the voice of the community in the team on that one.” Mroz communicated early on with the community about offline multiplayer, so it’s great to hear that he pushed the topic in-studio as well.
